NEW FLIGHT PATH TO CYPRUS IMPROVES LINKS WITH UK
Cyprus’ Larnaca Airport is the latest addition to the EasyJet list of destinations following the agreement of a nine-year deal with Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
The new agreement aims to expand the Liverpool based company and will see new flight paths to Larnaca from the beginning of November, which coincides with the winter sun season. With fares starting at £30.99 for one-way bookings, EasyJet are expecting their first venture with Cyprus to be highly successful. EasyJet carried over 2.4 million passengers last year alone, 17 times as many as they carried when they first began 16 years ago.
Commerical manager for EasyJet, Ali Gayward, commented: “Cyprus is a great winter sun destination with some of the Mediterranean’s best beaches and a rich culture, so we’re confident it will prove a popular addition to Liverpool.”
With excellent weather and high temperatures, EasyJet are expecting their new twice-weekly flights to be a hit. Gayward commented: “Cyprus benefits from over 300 days of sun per year and is expected to be a popular destination from Liverpool for passengers across the North West in search of some winter sun.”
With yet another airport link for Cyprus the country’s tourism industry looks stronger than ever. Tourism currently accounts for 10 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and with the outlook appearing positive the industry is expecting another boost.
Areas such as Limassol and Paphos are within reach of Larnaca Airport, one of the two international airports in Cyprus. With the announcement of new flights from the renowned budget airline company, tourism figures should expect to rise during the winter sun period and remain strong for the 2014 season.
