TURKEY HITS NEW RECORD IN TOURIST FIGURES

The number of tourists visiting Turkey from January to June this year has increased by 12.6 per cent reaching 13 million, according to a new report by the Culture and Tourism Ministry.

The UK represented 7.42 percent (966,690) of the total number of tourists, showing the British are choosing Turkey as their next holiday destination.

June is Turkey’s busiest tourist month and saw a record 3,780,637 million tourists visit the country. The figure has revealed an 8 per cent increase compared to last June’s 3.5 million.

The Turkish Statistical Institute revealed last month that tourism income for the country has risen by 17.8 per cent in the second quarter of the year compared to the same period last year.

Online travel expert ULookUBook.com has backed the latest figures, reporting that Turkey is becoming a top choice amongst tourists. The travel company stated that British travellers are heading to the country to experience its unique culture and impressive scenery.

Ian Raine of ULookUBook.com commented on the recent findings: “Not only is Turkey seeing a huge increase in the amount of money generated by tourism, they are also seeing a surge in the number of people choosing to holiday in the country.”

Turkey has also been popular for investors seeking a property abroad. Buyers want a property that they can visit on holiday and rent out for the rest of the year and Turkey seems to be everyone’s favourite choice. Andy Bridge, managing director at A Place in the Sun, commented: “Turkey is outside the eurozone – so sterling goes further, property is relatively affordable and it’s wonderful country for food, climate and culture.”

Knight Frank Global’s recent price index has indicated that there is continued growth in Turkey’s property sector and real estate prices are seeing an annual increase of 3.5 per cent.

Turkey’s recent good news has got investors excited. Buyers have seen an opportunity to purchase property at an affordable price that they can rent out all year round.

As tourist figures rise and are set to increase even further next year, now is the time to buy a property in Turkey.
